Today we had art for the first time. We also previewed several shows we will be using this year in our learning. We watched Mya and Miguel, Wishbone, and Cyberchase. We started learning some new words in English. A declarative sentence is a statement and an interrogative sentence is a question. We also continued to learn the correct way to complete the Daily Edit. In math we continued to work on addition with larger numbers.

Important Web Sites
We will be using several web sites frequently this year. I am going to introduce some of them here.
http://www.spellingcity.com/jlmichael/
Students can use this site to practice their spelling words each week. Each list is there by Unit and Week. Students can play games and take practice tests.
https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com/snpapp/login/login.jsp
Students will be using this site to take their reading tests this year. As a parent, you can check your students scores and see what areas your child needs to work on. I will also be assigning books each week that students need to listen to or read. Students can read these books at home as well as at school.
http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/home.jsp
You can use this site to order from Scholastic book orders instead of having to send in a check. You place your order and pay with a credit card and the books are delivered to the classroom. I will send home information about how to use this feature.
http://www.firstinmath.com/
Students will be using this site as frequently as possible to help increase their math skills. I plan on students being able to use the site at least 3-5 times a week at school. Students can also log in and work at home. The $8 math fee was used to purchase your child's subscription to this site.

Welcome!!
Welcome to my classroom blog. I will use this site to post classroom information. This will also be a place where parents and students can ask questions about homework or upcoming classroom events. I will also be posting links to web sites that can help your child. Please check here often. I will check this site at least twice an evening to answer any questions that might come up. I hope this will be a great way for us to communicate throughout the school year.
